Overview
Staffing in Kentucky
Kentucky sits within a day's drive of two-thirds of the U.S. population, and its employers are built on that fact. Louisville's airport, the third-busiest cargo airport in North America, hosts the world's largest automated package-handling facility, sorting more than 400,000 packages an hour, and the warehouses, cross-docks and fulfilment centres that feed it stretch down I-65 through Shepherdsville and Bullitt County. The same city holds two of the country's biggest truck and SUV assembly plants and the appliance park that has made household goods for seventy years. Two hours north, the airport at Hebron hosts the hubs of two global express carriers and moves 1.7 million tons of cargo a year, and the distribution parks of Florence, Hebron and Erlanger have grown up around them.
East and south, Georgetown holds Toyota's largest plant anywhere in the world and the parts suppliers that serve it, Lexington adds fulfilment, printing and food processing, Bowling Green builds the Corvette and a cluster of automotive and metals plants, and the new battery park near Elizabethtown is pulling a fresh supply chain into Hardin County.
We staff Kentucky from Markham the way we staff everywhere else: recruiters assigned to the state, a candidate pool organised by where people live so that the commute is realistic, and the same screening on certification, references and shift fit. The difference is the paperwork, which we handle under U.S. and Kentucky rules, and which you never see.

How it works
How a Kentucky placement works
Kentucky, United States
Placements in Kentucky run on the same model as everywhere we work: the worker is on our payroll, not yours, which is also how Kentucky law treats a temporary help service. We handle work-authorization verification, onboarding paperwork, payroll in U.S. dollars, federal and Kentucky withholding, the local occupational taxes that Louisville and other cities levy on wages, unemployment insurance and a Kentucky workers' compensation policy for the assignment. You get a person who can start and one weekly invoice.
Kentucky employers often run around the clock, and the air hubs run overnight. We screen for shift fit and transportation before we introduce anyone, and we verify forklift certification, CDL class and driving record where a role calls for it.
- Workers employed and paid by Assured under U.S. federal and Kentucky law
- Work-authorization verification and onboarding paperwork handled by Assured
- Kentucky workers' compensation policy, state and local withholding and unemployment insurance on our side
- Weekly pay for every worker; one weekly invoice for you
- Temporary, temp-to-perm and direct-hire terms
Assured Employment Services operates in accordance with the labour, tax and workers' compensation laws of each province and state where it places staff, and never charges job seekers a fee.
For workers
Getting to work in Kentucky
In Louisville, TARC's redesigned network runs every fifteen minutes all day on Preston Highway, Dixie Highway and Broadway, and Route 3 reaches Worldport, but Riverport and Bullitt County are no longer on a bus route, so most of our hub and I-65 workers drive or carpool. In Lexington, Lextran's Leestown Road, Newtown Pike and Georgetown Road routes cover the industrial corridors, but the system does not leave Fayette County, so the Georgetown plant and its suppliers are reached by car. In Northern Kentucky, TANK's 2X Airporter runs every half hour from about four in the morning to one at night between Covington, the Florence hub, the airport and the DHL and Amazon hubs.
Parking is free at essentially every site. We ask about reliable transportation before placing anyone on a night or early-morning shift, and we match on commute realistically so that retention holds.
From the GTA, Louisville is about ten hours by road through Detroit and Cincinnati, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky is a short flight from Toronto; our recruiters travel to Kentucky for client visits, and candidates are interviewed by video or at your site.

Questions
Frequently asked
Do you have an office in Kentucky?
Not yet. Our office is in Markham, Ontario, and our Kentucky recruiters work by phone, video and regular on-site visits. Client kick-offs and site walk-throughs happen at your facility, and candidate interviews are held by video or at your site when you prefer to meet people first.
How does a Canadian agency employ workers in Kentucky?
The workers are employed and paid by Assured under U.S. federal and Kentucky law, with work-authorization verification, payroll withholding, unemployment insurance and workers' compensation handled on our side; Kentucky law treats a temporary help service as the worker's employer, which is exactly our model. You receive one weekly invoice. Ask us for the specifics that apply to your engagement before we begin.
What do warehouse and production roles pay in Kentucky?
Pay is set by each client. Across our placements, warehouse and package-handling roles typically start between $17 and $22 an hour, forklift operators between $19 and $24, production and assembly operators between $18 and $24, and CDL-A drivers between $24 and $32. Night and weekend premiums are common at the hubs.
How quickly can you staff a Louisville or Northern Kentucky order?
Package handlers, pickers, packers and general labour usually within one to two business days. Forklift operators, shippers and production operators typically take two to four days because we verify certification and references first. Peak ramp-ups of twenty or more people need about a week's notice.
Do you also cover Southern Indiana across the river?
Yes. Jeffersonville, New Albany and the River Ridge Commerce Center are covered by the same team as Louisville; see our Indiana page for the rest of the state.
